All the ways this expresses itself is another story to tell...parents are piercing their children's ears and having them circumcised so that they will no longer be fit for ritual use. My Ugandan friends that I have talked to about the issue are not at all callously accepting--they think it's awful--but they also think it is rare and that it has "always been there." They will talk about how their parents used to warn them when they were kids so that they didn't fall victim and now they take precautions with their own kids.Holly and Ben Porterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18188129367325364118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17460630.post-43976091059023256702010-03-02T01:33:40.605+02:002010-03-02T01:33:40.605+02:00Very troubling all around. :( Seems like from th...Very troubling all around. :( Seems like from the reactions you recorded, most folks were aware of and not horrified by the practice? Didn't seem like there was a lot of feeling of concern for the children, more a concern for how this video will affect the stability and image of the country? Could be this was too obvious a reaction to record? Or is this an issue that has developed some callous acceptance? The Stoutshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16594580348073717356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17460630.post-65730177622504671672010-03-02T01:16:04.249+02:002010-03-02T01:16:04.249+02:00This comment has been removed by the author. The Stoutshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16594580348073717356noreply@blogger.com
