News Flash...

This morning Ben and I were watching BBC and sipping on instant coffee at our hotel here in Gulu. Across the bottom of the screen it read 'Ugandan elections unlikely to be free and fair--U.S. based Human Rights Watch reports.' They catch on quick. Check it out: http://www.hrw.org/english/docs/2006/02/13/uganda12669.htm

Elections are in a week and we're praying, hoping and working for peace.

Hey you guys,

We hope this finds you well. We have talked with your folks a couple of times since we visited them at the YWAM base and sounds like they are moved into their new place.
We wanted to encourage you to make sure you get out of your situation regularly. Even for just a week end. That can be difficult as you might not get the support or permission to do it and slowly the stress bulds up. So this is just a preventative thing. Hopefully you will be getting some support from others in the community who will allow you to take regular breaks. It is not a weakness to need regular breaks. Just to be in a place where you are not getting asked for something all the time. Our time in Kenya we found the need to get out of the situation and be in a safe environment. Mainly just to be in a place where we were not always having to give out.
Again we just want to offer this as an encouragement to do good self-care and not wait until you feel overwhelmed, that will come just by itself, but give yourself permission to get away.

We have set up this blog but you can also email us at john.zilen@aon.at but we know that communication there can be interesting and a challenge.

We had hoped to make it to Kenya in Jan. but the conference didn't work out. We would have loved to have met you somewhere.

Stay safe and take care of yourselves. John and Karen
